Traffic volumes increased by 13.7% in the first
10 months of 2008

The ports of China
reported an increase of
13.7%
in traffic volumes
to
97.2m
TEUs,
in the first 10 months of 2008. The port of
Guangzhou recorded the higher (percentage) increase
(+ 23.1%), to 9,363,200 TEUs. The port of Shanghai
(the first of all in traffic volumes) handled 23,484,700 TEUs
(+ 8,7%), following by the port of Shenzhen that
handled 18,049,300 TEUs (+ 6,7%).

The fluvial ports in the first 10
months of 2008 handled 8,071,600 TEUs (+21,9%).

In October 2008, during the financial
crisis, the traffic volumes increased by 8% to 9.9m
TEUs.
