Net income of USD 41.64m instead of loss in Q3 period

Top Ships Inc., listed on Nasdaq (Evangelos J. Pistiolis, President & CEO), for the 3 months ended September 30, 2008, reported net income of USD 41.64m, or USD 1.48 per share, compared with net loss of USD 21.99m, or USD 1.80 per share, for the 3rd Q of 2007, on an average of 28,153,538 common shares (12,222,812 in 2007).

 

 

 

 Operating income was USD 49.13m, compared with operating loss of USD 15.31m in 2007. Revenues were USD 71.09m, compared to USD 51.19m recorded in the 3rd Q of 2007.

For the 9 months ended September 30, 2008, the company reported net income of USD 17.21m, or USD 0.70 per share, compared to net loss of USD 11.71m, or USD 1.04 per share, in 2007, on an average of 24,556,897 common shares versus 11,280,551 in 2007. Operating income was USD 53.77m, compared to operating loss of USD 3.21m in 2007. Revenues were USD 220.42m, compared to USD 200.47m recorded in the 9 months of 2007. 

 

 

 

 

 

TOP Ships Inc. (formerly known as TOP Tankers Inc.), is an international provider of worldwide seaborne crude oil and petroleum products and drybulk transportation services. The Company operates:

  • A fleet of 7 double-hull Handymax tankers, with a total carrying capacity of approximately 0.3m dwt, of which 58% are sister ships. All of the company's tankers will be on time charter contracts with an average term of two years.  

  • A fleet of 5 drybulk vessels with a total carrying capacity of approximately 0.3m dwt, of which 70% are sister ships, which have fixed rate employment contracts for an average period of 30 months.
