Strong increase in 9 months operating income to USD 2.6bn

Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA group, listed on Oslo Børs (Ingar Skaug, CEO), posted an operating profit of USD 217.6m for the first 9 months of 2008, on total operating income of USD 2.6bn as against USD 2bn for the same period of 2007. Profit before taxes came to USD 121.8m, compared to USD 190.8m.

In the 3rd Q of 2008, the group reported total operating income of USD 866.6m (+23%), while operating profit came to USD 83.1m. Group profit after tax and minorities was USD 37.6m, down from USD 74.8m from the corresponding period in 2007.

Wilhelmsen ASA group offers logistics solutions and maritime services through a worldwide network embracing 18,800 people at more than 450 offices in some 75 countries (joint ventures included). Together with its partners, the group controls around 150 car and roll-on, roll-off carriers. The group owns and charters ships, which are deployed in the fleets operated by subsidiaries Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, EUKOR Car Carriers and American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier. Ships can be served at roughly 2,200 ports in 115 countries through Wilhelmsen Ships Service. The crewing and management company Wilhelmsen Ship Management, manages roughly 310 vessels.
