“Superfast
I”
is the first of two sister vessels acquired by Attica
Group, to restructure its plans on the Adriatic
market, which looking for a new rotation, due to the decrease
of the traffic volumes, specially of the recent missing
passengers.
According to the new project of Attica group,
the company schedules to replace its current fleet on the Greece
– Italy routes, deploying a new generation Ro-Pax vessels,
with more trucks’ carrying capacity. Tracks and Tir traffic
supports the lines of Adriatic during the wintertime, with
the low demand on passenger tickets.
VESSEL'S PROFILE
The newly-built “Superfast I”, which deployed
in the Patras-Igoumenitsa-Bari route, has an overall
length of 199.1 meters, width of 26.6 meters,
draft of 6.4 meters, 24,000Kw engine power,
cruising speed of 24 knots and a carrying capacity
of 950 passengers, 170 large trucks and 100 private
cars.

This type of ship reduces the fuel oil costs
and it’s the most expedient to be fully operated in the
international routes. Its, on board facilities include
restaurant, bar, casino, boutique, aircraft-type seats, 7 decks
and 108 comfortable cabins, offering a fair trip.
STRATEGIC PLANS
“Superfast I”
was built in Nuovi Cantieri Apuania,
Italy, and delivered earlier November. Another one sister
vessel, the “Superfast II”, is due to be delivered
in the course of the 2nd half of 2009. Attica
group is intended to transfer its bigger passenger vessels in
domestic routes and specially, to joint Piraeus with
island of Crete, enhancing the companies’ contention.
