Further to the announcement dated
November 2, 2007 on the findings of a new mapping by the
specialized company Akti Engineering in the area where
“Sea Diamond” sunk, Louis plc announced that:
The Hydrographical Service of the Greek
Navy, proceeded with a new mapping of the area and its
findings confirm fully the findings of Akti Engineering.
Specifically, the results of the measurements carried out by
the Hydrographical Service confirmed that the reef against
which “Sea Diamond” struck is 131 meters off the coast and
not only 57 measures as it was erroneously mentioned in the
official marine map. According to the same map, the depth is
18 – 22 measures and not 3.5 - 5 measures as it is indeed.
The aforementioned official findings vindicate the
company’s views that based on the official map at that time,
the itinerary that “Sea Diamond” followed at its approach to
Santorini was “absolutely safe”, Louis plc announced.
