 January – October 2008 traffic volumes up to 8%

The traffic of Suez Canal in October 2008 increased by 8% to 1,930 vessels (compared to 1,787 vessels in October of 2007), from which 393 (+27.2%) were oil tankers and 1,537 (+4%) were vessels of other types.

The total traffic in the ten months period (January – October 2008), amounted to 18,085 vessels (+7.2%), from which 3,142 were oil tankers (+10.4%) and 14,943 (+6.6%) were vessels of other types.

  • The total capacity of all vessels, which have passed the Canal in the first 10 months of 2008, increased by 10.3% to 769.7m dwt.
