Posts 2008 net profit of USD 83m, after restructuring charges

Global container shipping and logistics group Neptune Orient Lines (Ron Widdows, president and CEO) reported a net profit for 2008 of USD 83m, a decreased by 84% from 2007, after restructuring charges of USD 72m. The Group’s 2008 Core EBIT of USD 213m was down 64% from the prior year.

For the 4th Q of 2008 the company reported a net loss of USD 149m and a loss at Core EBIT level of USD 45m. Revenue for 2008 was up 14% year-on-year to a record of USD 9.29bn.
